Choose your nines on a 27-hole course
Quick answer
On a course that offers a choice of nines (for example Canyon, Loblolly, and Sherling at Cambrian Ridge), pick a Front nine and a Back nine under 'Which nines will you play?' in the New tournament wizard. Pars, handicap numbers, and yardages follow the two nines you pick. You can change the pair later from the Nines card on the Holes tab until scores are entered.

When you will see the nines choice
The choice appears only when all three are true: you picked the course from the catalog, the course is set up with a choice of nines, and you chose 18 holes. For every other course, nothing changes. You pick the course and play it as listed.
Pick your nines when you create the event
Pick the course on the Basics step
Search the course catalog and pick your course. The nines choice starts out set to the order of the course you picked.
Choose 18 holes on the Format step
Under Holes, tap 18 (full round). A question appears: Which nines will you play?
Choose Front nine and Back nine
Pick a nine from each list. The nine you chose for the front is greyed out in the Back nine list (and the other way around), because the two nines must be different. Tap Swap front and back to flip the order.
Check the summary and finish the wizard
A line under the lists reads, for example, 'You'll play Sherling then Canyon.' The Review step shows the same pair next to 18 holes. Finish creating the tournament as usual.
What follows the nines you pick
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Hole numbers | Your front nine becomes holes 1–9 and your back nine becomes holes 10–18. |
| Par | Taken from each nine. |
| Handicap numbers (stroke index) | Worked out again for the pair you picked. The front nine gets the odd numbers (1, 3, 5 … 17) and the back nine gets the even numbers (2, 4, 6 … 18), keeping each nine's own order of difficulty. |
| Yardage | Filled in for the tee you chose. If a nine has no matching tee, its yardages are left blank and the Holes page tells you to enter them by hand. |
Change your nines later
Open the Holes tab. A Nines card has the same Front nine and Back nine lists. Pick a new pair and tap Change nines. Par, handicap numbers, and yardages are updated for all 18 holes. Contests you already placed on holes are not moved.
Duplicating an event
If you duplicate a tournament that uses picked nines, the copy keeps the same front and back nine.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pick Canyon, Loblolly, or Sherling at Cambrian Ridge?
Yes. Search for Cambrian Ridge, choose 18 holes, then pick any two different nines as your front and back, in either order. For example, Sherling then Canyon.
Why don't I see a nines choice for my course?
The choice only shows for catalog courses that offer a choice of nines, and only for 18-hole events. If you chose 9 holes, or your course plays as a single 18, you will not see it.
Can I play the same nine twice?
No. The front and back must be two different nines.
Can I change the nines after play has started?
No. After the first score is entered the Nines card is locked, because par and handicap numbers change with the nines.
Do I have to pick nines?
No. If you leave the choice as it is, you play the course exactly as it is listed.
