Flights
Quick answer
Flights split your field into competitive divisions — typically by handicap (A-flight for low handicaps, B-flight for mid, C-flight for high). Each flight gets its own leaderboard and prizes. Flights are optional; casual events usually don't need them.

What are flights?
A flight is a competitive group within your event. All teams (or players, in individual format) in a flight compete against each other on a separate leaderboard. Flights are most commonly set up by handicap range — A-flight is the strongest players, B-flight is mid-range, and so on.
Enabling flights
Flights can be enabled when creating a tournament (toggle 'Enable flights' on the Format step and set the number of flights). They can also be turned on later via tournament Settings. Once enabled, a Flights tab appears in the Setup group of your sidebar.
Creating flights
Go to the Flights tab
Open your tournament and click Flights in the sidebar. If no flights exist yet, you'll see a form to create them.
Create your flights
Enter the number of flights you want (e.g. 3 for A/B/C) and click Create. ScrambleSync creates named flights in order.
Rename flights (optional)
Click on any flight name to rename it inline — for example, 'A Flight', 'Senior', or 'Ladies'.
Assigning teams or players to flights
In scramble and best-ball formats, you assign teams to flights. In individual format, you assign players. Both work the same way on the Flights tab.
Auto-split by handicap
Click Auto-split to have ScrambleSync divide teams (or players) into flights evenly by handicap. This requires handicap values to be entered on the Teams or Players tab first.
Assign manually
Use the flight dropdown next to each team or player to assign them to a specific flight. This gives you full control over groupings regardless of handicap.
Flight leaderboards
Once flights are assigned, the Scoreboard page automatically shows a per-flight leaderboard alongside the overall board. Spectators and golfers can switch between flights on the live leaderboard and wallboard.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need handicaps to use flights?
Only for auto-split. You can assign teams or players to flights manually without handicap data. Handicap is needed if you want ScrambleSync to split them automatically by skill level.
Can I have different prizes for each flight?
Flight leaderboards determine placement per division — how you run prizes from there is up to you. ScrambleSync shows each flight's standings separately so you can award per-flight winners.
Can I rename flights after assigning teams?
Yes. Click the flight name inline on the Flights tab to rename it at any time. Existing assignments are kept.
