Using the guided setup wizard
Quick answer
After creating a tournament, ScrambleSync opens a five-step setup wizard covering Holes & contests, Teams, Roster, Sponsors, and Review. Each step is optional and skippable — click any step tab to jump around, and return to any section later via the sidebar tabs.

Opening the wizard
The wizard opens automatically when you create a new tournament. To reopen it later, go to your tournament and click Setup in the sidebar (under the Setup group).
The five steps
| Step | What you do here |
|---|---|
| Holes & contests | Confirm par values for each hole; add hole contests (Closest to Pin, Long Drive) |
| Teams | Generate teams automatically or add manually; set team count and starting holes |
| Roster | Upload players via CSV or add by hand; assign players to teams |
| Sponsors | Add sponsors with contact info so they receive a portal invite email |
| Review | See a summary of what's set up, with quick links to finish anything |
Holes & contests step
If you picked a catalog course when creating the tournament, par values are pre-filled and locked (they come from official course data). You can add a hole contest — select a hole and choose Closest to Pin or Longest Drive. Contests appear on golfer scorecards and on the Contests tab for sponsor tracking.
Teams step
Enter the number of teams, pick total holes (9 or 18), and click Generate. ScrambleSync creates teams with shotgun hole assignments and unique join codes. You can also add teams one at a time. Adjust starting holes later on the Teams tab.
Roster step
Upload a CSV with player names (and optionally company, email, handicap). ScrambleSync assigns players to teams. You can also add players individually on the Players tab. If you use online registration, players are added automatically when they register — you may not need this step.
Sponsors step
Add sponsor names and email addresses. Each sponsor receives an email invitation to their sponsor portal, where they upload a logo and manage their hole contest. You can skip this and add sponsors directly from the Sponsors tab later.
Review step
The Review step shows counts for holes configured, teams, players, and sponsors. Click the tournament name link to leave the wizard and go to the full tournament dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Can I reopen the wizard later?
Yes. Click Setup in your tournament's sidebar at any time to reopen the wizard.
Do I have to complete every step?
No. Every step is optional. The minimum to run an event is holes configured and at least one team with a join code. Everything else can be done later.
What's the difference between the wizard and the sidebar tabs?
The wizard is a guided starting point. The sidebar tabs give you full access to each section at any time. Both lead to the same place — the wizard is just friendlier for initial setup.
