Payment and registration problems
Quick answer
Registration payments go through Stripe. Most payment failures are caused by card declines — the golfer should check their card details and try again, or use a different card. For refunds, the organizer issues them from the tournament's Registrations tab. If the event is sold out, golfers can join the waitlist.

Payment failed during registration
If a golfer's payment fails during checkout, the most common causes are:
- Card number, expiration date, or CVV entered incorrectly.
- The card issuer declined the charge (contact your bank).
- Insufficient funds or a credit limit reached.
- The card has international transaction restrictions and the charge was flagged.
Try again with corrected card details
Go back to the registration link and re-enter your payment information carefully.
Use a different card
If the same card keeps declining, try a different credit or debit card.
Contact your bank
Ask your bank whether they blocked the charge. Some banks flag unfamiliar merchants — you may need to authorize the transaction.
Contact the organizer
If payment still won't go through, reach out to the tournament organizer. They can add you manually and arrange an alternative payment method.
Requesting a refund
Refund policies are set by the tournament organizer, not by ScrambleSync. Contact the organizer directly to request a refund. If the organizer approves it, they can issue the refund from the Registrations tab in their tournament dashboard — the amount goes back to the original payment method via Stripe.
Event is sold out — joining the waitlist
When a tournament's registration is full, a waitlist option appears on the registration page. Enter your name and email to join. If a spot opens up, the organizer can invite waitlisted golfers to register. ScrambleSync does not send automatic waitlist emails, so the organizer will reach out to you directly when it's your turn — watch for a message from them.
Note for organizers: registration payments require Pro + Payments
Online registration payment collection is only available on the Pro + Payments plan. If you're on Per Event, Season, or Pro, golfers can register but payment must be collected outside of ScrambleSync. Upgrade to Pro + Payments to enable in-app payment collection.
Frequently asked questions
A golfer paid but doesn't appear on the registration list
Check the Registrations tab in your tournament dashboard. If the golfer completed Stripe checkout, their registration should appear within a few seconds. If it's missing after a few minutes, email [email protected] with the golfer's name and email.
How long do refunds take?
Once the organizer issues a refund through ScrambleSync, Stripe processes it within 5–10 business days. The timeline depends on the golfer's bank.
Can a golfer pay cash and still get a registration entry?
Yes. Organizers can add registrants manually from the Registrations tab without requiring an online payment. Mark the registration as paid manually if needed.
Is there a fee on top of the registration price?
ScrambleSync does not add a platform fee to registration payments. Standard Stripe processing fees (typically around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) apply and are the organizer's responsibility.
