Get alerts on your phone during the round
Quick answer
Open the Messages tab on your scorecard and tap Enable on the Notifications card in your browser (the app asks for permission on its own). Your phone will ask for permission. Once it's on, announcements the organizer sends to everyone show up as a 'Tournament update' alert.

Overview
Organizers can send a message to the whole field, like a weather delay. With notifications on, that message pops up on your phone even if the scorecard isn't open. Without them, you'd only see it by opening the Messages tab.
Who this is for
Golfers using the scorecard in a web browser or in the ScrambleSync app.
Turn on alerts in your browser
Open the Messages tab
On your scorecard, tap Messages at the bottom. The Notifications card is at the top of that screen.
Tap Enable
The card reads 'Notifications' and 'Get alerts for tee changes, results, and announcements'. Tap Enable.
Allow notifications when your phone asks
Your browser shows its own permission pop-up. Choose to allow. The button changes to Turn off, which means alerts are on for this phone.
Turn on alerts in the app
In the ScrambleSync app, the app asks for notification permission by itself once you're on a team's scorecard. Tap allow when it asks. If you say no, it doesn't keep asking. Tapping an alert opens the golfer screen in the app. While the app is open, an alert shows as a banner at the top of the screen without a sound.
What you'll get
Right now the alerts ScrambleSync sends are the organizer's messages to everyone at the event. The alert is titled 'Tournament update' and shows the message text. Tapping it opens the scorecard. A message the organizer sends to just one team is not sent as an alert, so check the Messages tab for those.
Turn alerts off
In your browser, open the Messages tab and tap Turn off on the Notifications card. In the app, turn off notifications for ScrambleSync in your phone's settings. Either way, this only turns off alerts for the phone you're holding.
Tips
- Turn alerts on before you tee off so you don't miss a weather call.
- Alerts are set up per phone. Each teammate who wants them has to turn them on.
- You don't need an account. Alerts work off your team code.
Troubleshooting
| If you see this | Try this |
|---|---|
| 'Blocked in your browser settings' | Your browser has notifications blocked for ScrambleSync, so there's no Enable button. Change the notification setting for this site in your browser's settings, then reopen the Messages tab. |
| I don't see a Notifications card at all | The card only appears when your browser supports notifications and ScrambleSync alerts are switched on. You can still read every announcement in the Messages tab. |
| I tapped Enable and it went back to Enable | Your phone didn't give permission, or the sign-up didn't go through. Tap Enable again and allow when asked. |
| I'm in the app and never got asked | If you said no when the app asked, it won't ask again. Turn notifications on for ScrambleSync in your phone's settings. |
