Can't sign in? Fix login, reset, and 2FA problems
Quick answer
On the sign in page, type your email address, then click Forgot password?. If you see Enter your email first, the email box is empty. We send a reset link; open it in the same browser, click Continue to reset password, and set a new password. If the second step (2FA) is the problem, use the newest 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or sign in with a passkey.

Overview
Most sign-in problems come down to a forgotten password, a reset or invite link that was used or expired, or a second-step code that didn't match. Here's how to get back in.
Signing in with Google or Microsoft isn't available yet. Use your email and password, or a passkey.
Who this is for
Organizers and staff who sign in to the ScrambleSync dashboard. Golfers and sponsors never sign in. The sign in page says it too: Players and sponsors don't sign in - they use a code, link, or QR. If a golfer is stuck, see A golfer can't join the tournament.
Reset a forgotten password
Type your email address
On the sign in page, type your email in the Email address box. You don't need to type a password.
Click Forgot password?
It's under the Sign in button. If the email box is empty, you'll see Enter your email first. Type your email and click it again.
Check your inbox
You'll see Password reset email sent - check your inbox. Open the email and click the link.
Click Continue to reset password
The Reset your password page opens. Click Continue to reset password. Open the link in the same browser you used to ask for the reset.
Set your new password
On the Set your password page, type a New password (8 or more characters) and type it again under Confirm password. Click Set password & continue and you'll go to your dashboard.
Use a staff invite link
If a teammate invited you, click the link in the invitation email. The Accept your invitation page opens. Click Accept invitation, then pick a password on the Set your password page. Skip for now takes you to the dashboard without setting one. If the invitation never arrived, ask an Admin to click Resend on the Team page (Users in the account menu).
When the second step (2FA) won't work
After you sign in with email and password, the Verify your identity page asks for a second step. Type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app and click Verify. The new code appears every 30 seconds, so use the newest one.
- If you see Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, the box needs all 6 digits.
- If you see That code didn't work. Use the newest code from your authenticator app., wait for the next code and try again.
- On the sign in page, you can click Sign in with passkey instead, if you've set one up.
- If you've turned on Sign-in codes by email (or you're on the Charity plan or a demo account), click Email me a code instead. We email a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes. Type it into the Email code box. Click Use my authenticator app instead to go back.
- If you've asked for too many email codes you'll see Too many codes. Wait a few minutes and try again.
- If you see Too many attempts. Wait a minute and try again., wait a minute before you type another code. If you see Please sign in again., click Sign out at the bottom of the page and start from the sign in page.
Our MFA and passkeys article has the full set-up steps. If you lost your phone and have no passkey, email [email protected] from your login email and we'll help you get back in.
Tips
- Ask for the reset on the same computer and browser where you'll open the email link.
- Reset links work once. Opening one a second time shows an expired message, so ask for a new one.
- Tick Remember me on this device on the sign in page. Next time the passkey button reads Continue as and your email address.
- Add a passkey on your phone and your laptop so a lost authenticator never locks you out.

Frequently asked questions
Do golfers or sponsors need to sign in?
No. They use a join code, a link or a QR code. Only organizers and staff sign in.
I never got the password reset email. What now?
Check the spelling of the address and your spam folder, then try Forgot password? again. We show the same message whether or not an account exists, so a missing email usually means the address doesn't match your login. Still nothing? Email [email protected].
Why can't I use an email code for the second step?
Turn on Sign-in codes by email in MFA Settings while you can still sign in. Staff and admin logins can't use email codes. If you're locked out, email [email protected] from your login email.
Can a teammate reset my password for me?
No. Use Forgot password? on the sign in page. Admins can resend an invitation from the Team page (Users in the account menu) if you haven't set a password yet.
