Card swap: have teams keep each other's scorecards
Quick answer
Card swap makes each team keep score for a different team, so nobody scores their own card. It is off by default. To turn it on, open the Teams tab, find the Card swap panel, and check 'Teams keep each other's cards'. Then pair teams automatically or by hand. It works for scramble, Chapman / Pinehurst, Alternate Shot, and Greensomes events, and it locks once any card is signed.

What card swap does
Normally each team enters scores for its own card. With card swap, teams are paired and each team keeps the other team's card. Paired teams are usually the two teams that start on the same hole. Each team still uses its own join code or QR code.
Which formats can use it
Card swap needs one score per team per hole: Scramble, Chapman / Pinehurst, Alternate Shot, and Greensomes. For other formats, such as best-ball or individual, the panel says: 'Card swap is only available for team formats (scramble, chapman, alternate shot, greensomes).'
Turn it on and pair your teams
Add your teams and starting holes first
Pairing works from your team list, so set up teams (and any shotgun starting holes) before you turn card swap on.
Open the Teams tab and find the Card swap panel
Check 'Teams keep each other's cards'. A line confirms 'Card swap is on.'
Click Pair teams automatically
Teams that start on the same hole are paired with each other, in order. Teams that are already paired, already signed, or already have scores are left alone.
Fix any pairing by hand
Each team has a list for the card it keeps. Pick a team from the list, or choose 'No partner (keeps own card)'. Pairing goes both ways: if 1A keeps 1B's card, then 1B keeps 1A's card.
Teams with no partner
A team with no partner keeps its own card. The panel warns you, for example '1 team has no partner and will keep their own card: 5A.' This happens with an odd number of teams on a hole. If you move a paired team to a different starting hole, its pairing is cleared and its partner shows as unpaired.
Changing pairs after scores are in
If either team already has scores, changing partners asks you to confirm: 'Changing partners now leaves those scores on the original card.' Scores stay on the card they were entered on, and the team that keeps that card now enters the rest.
Locked once a card is signed
As soon as any card is signed, you can no longer turn card swap on or off or change pairs. The panel says: 'A card has been signed, so card swap can't be changed. Reopen the card first if you need to.' You can reopen a signed card from the Teams list.
Turning card swap off keeps your pairs on file, but they stop applying.
What golfers see
- On the scoring page, the header reads Keeping <team>'s card, for example 'Keeping 1B's card'. The scores they enter go on that team's card.
- A switch near the top has two tabs: the card they keep, and 'Our card (read-only)'. Our card shows their own scores but cannot be edited from their phone.
- When the round is complete, the sign section is for the card they keep. Signing it signs and locks the other team's card.
- If you change a pairing while golfers are playing, they may see 'Your card pairing changed, so some scores were not saved.' with a Reload button. Tapping Reload loads the right card.
Tee sheet and team list
Paired teams are labeled 'You keep: 1B' on the team list and on the printed tee sheet, so each group knows whose card is in their hands. In card swap events the leaderboard does not list scorekeeper names.
Frequently asked questions
Is card swap on automatically?
No. It is off by default. Check 'Teams keep each other's cards' in the Card swap panel on the Teams tab to turn it on.
Which formats work with card swap?
Scramble, Chapman / Pinehurst, Alternate Shot, and Greensomes. Best-ball and individual events cannot use it.
What if I have an odd number of teams?
The leftover team has no partner and keeps its own card. The panel names it so you can pair it by hand or leave it.
Can I change pairs after a card is signed?
No. Reopen the signed card from the Teams list first. Then you can change the setting or the pairs.
Whose card does a team sign?
The card it keeps. Signing locks that team's scores, the same as signing your own card.
Can a paired team edit its own card?
Not from its own phone. The 'Our card (read-only)' tab is view-only. The team keeping that card enters the scores.
